In the Team Sensor Design within the Multisensoric Coordinate Measuring Machines business unit, we develop sensors for fast, reliable and high-precision coordinate measuring instruments. As a design engineer/development engineer, you take responsibility from the design of new sensor principles through the prototype setup to the testing of the sensor properties and thus design the next generation of optical and tactile sensor technology. You design and dimension complex mechatronic sensor assemblies for tactile and optical measurement tasks – from the first concept sketch to the finished 3D CAD model.

You use mechanical components and assemblies, taking into account stiffness, vibration behavior, thermal stability and installation space, and select suitable materials and manufacturing methods.

Through the targeted use of suitable construction methods, materials and damping or Storage concepts ensure the required dynamic and static performance of the sensors – always in the voltage field between precision, cost, time and quality for small to medium series.

You plan and implement test setups at module level, take them into operation and define suitable test sizes in coordination with the Sensorik laboratory. From measurement and test results, you can derive concrete design adaptations.

You carry out detailed constructions up to production maturity, create piece lists and drawings and clarify manufacturing-relevant details with production, quality assurance and suppliers.

You accompany the production start of new sensors, support industrialization (assembly concepts, tolerance chains, test equipment) and support the products over the entire life cycle – including technical optimizations from field feedback.

You take over the subproject management for sensor developments, plan and structure work packages and coordinate interfaces to development, purchasing, logistics and production.

You create and maintain the technical documentation (e.g. specifications, release documents) in your area of responsibility.

Together with algorithms, software, electronics and product management, you will participate in the architecture of new sensor technologies and products and bring your know-how systematically into the overall development.

Complete studies in mechanical engineering, precision engineering, mechatronics or aerospace technology or a comparable qualification with corresponding professional experience.

Multiannual practice in the design and construction of high-precision mechanical assemblies, ideally in the context of measuring technology or fine-mechanical systems.

Very safe handling of a 3D CAD system, ideally Creo, including assembly modeling, drawing dissipation and standard scale.

Experience in continuous product development – from the concept phase to prototypes and tests to series maturity and market launch.

Experience in the (partial) project management of development or construction projects, including scheduling and task, as well as coordination with interface areas.

Embossed hand-on mentality: You not only work on CAD, but instead implement test setups themselves, check components, assist in assembly and deal directly with problems.

Craftsmanship, safe handling of workshop and laboratory equipment as well as a structured and careful operation.

High team and communication skills for cooperation with interdisciplinary fields as well as fluent knowledge of German or English with good knowledge of the other language.
