Nautical Supervision and Administrative Coordination at the East Harbour Authority

We make port: With great passion, we keep running the infrastructure of the Port of Hamburg around the clock. We are more than 1,900 HPA colleagues who drive forward advanced ideas to develop Hamburg's heart and make the port a bit more sustainable every day.

The nautical supervision of the port is divided into port offices. The nautical supervision extends to all berths and landing facilities, water stairs and docks in the correct state, the control of the shipping signs, luminescent fires and the construction sites in and on the water. Disorders and irregularities shall be resolved and reported to the Nautian headquarters and the competent authorities, where appropriate. Monitoring shall be carried out in the case of checks to comply with requirements arising from naval police approvals and measures and the progress of repairs and construction measures.

You carry out various nautical and naval tasks You are responsible for the allocation and approval of the berths for inland, port and leisure travel You monitor and check the access to the berths of the resting shipping traffic The supervision of all requirements and permits granted by the Oberhafenamt falls within your area of responsibility You are also responsible for the care and structured concatenation of relevant processes (positions, disorders, reports etc.) in the electronic file

You have the ability to upscale nautical port service. Means you have the certificate of competence as Nautian guard officer / Nautischer Wachoffizier, First Officer / First Officer or Captain / Captain after completion of a university degree or through a special course imparting to the professional college qualification. Nautische Wachoffizier / Nautischer Wachoffizier or First Officer / First Officer / First Officer is additionally required a minimum of two years of activity in a profession beneficial for use. Alternatively, you have a completed university degree course to the graduate administrator / to the graduate administrator (or Bachelor) – Department of Police (Water Protection Police/Federal Police) with several years of practical experience You can demonstrate good port and shipping knowledge and, in addition to the practical experience, have comprehensive knowledge of the relevant provisions of port and shipping law, the Maritime Road Order and the relevant administrative provisions
