The Südholstein wastewater consortium is responsible for wastewater treatment in the southwest of Schleswig-Holstein. With nearly 300 employees, he provides the collection, transport and cleaning of the wastewater for around 500,000 people as well as for industry and business in the Pinneberg district, in parts of the neighbouring districts and for some northwestern districts of Hamburg. Overall, the AZV Südholstein operates seven wastewater treatment plants of different size classes and channel networks with a total length of more than 900 kilometres. The main location is the large sewage plant in Hetlingen. Every year, the association cleanses about 34 million cubic meters of wastewater, takes over further tasks in municipal water management and is committed to sustainable development. This makes the Association of Purposes an important contribution to clean water and environmental protection in the region.
