It is a holistic, software-oriented approach from hardware, embedded software, cloud, and IoT. This allows a higher speed, more frequent updates and upgrades to master the increasing complexity and is designed around scalable architectures. Our team reports directly to our Chief Software Officer for Mercedes-Benz, Magnus Östberg, and is responsible for driving the lean and agile transformation. As part of the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) team, you support the Operational Excellence Program. This is a human-centered transformation program that helps to achieve our lead-in-car software strategy. You love variety and can inspire you for innovative ideas and pioneering products? These challenges come to you: The aim of the master thesis is to understand where and why Operational Excellence practices work successfully and where borders lie

The work includes the comparative investigation of 3-5 contrasting organizational units, e.g. software teams or hardware-intensive development areas.

The results form the basis for a company-wide, context-sensitively controlled Operational Excellence Transformation and contribute to the sustainable increase of efficiency, quality and innovation

The activity can begin from December 2025. The final topics will be discussed with the university, you and us.

Organisational development, but also related studies such as communication

Secure knowledge of German and English in word and writing

First contact points with agile or lean transformations, process management,
