With an annual programme of around 5,000 events, the volkshochschule Stuttgart is the largest in Baden-Württemberg and is one of the largest public universities in Germany. As a public training institution funded by the Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart, it provides a wide range of educational opportunities related to the city and the educational needs of citizens with close links to culture and social affairs. Courses, seminars, courses, individual events and series of events in the programme areas of education and training, cultural education, health education, languages, German and integration, vocational training and further education, as well as basic education and school degrees are visited annually by more than 200,000 people.
