Senior Data Engineer Cloud & AI (m/f/d)

As a data expert in our workiva team, you work on building modern data platforms and architectures – focusing on interfaces and databases – from ingestion to processing to providing analytics and AI applications. You take project responsibility: You guide your development team professionally, tax implementation and quality and are a reliable technical contact for our customers. You develop robust data pipelines and ELT/ETL lines to connect workiva via interfaces and databases –, establish CI/CD, testing and monitoring and make data products manageable instead of running. You bring current AI topics into implementation: You create the data base for GenAI-Use-Cases, build RAG and vector pipelines and use LLM-based tools to accelerate development and operation. You advise our customers on architectural decisions, data governance and cost optimization – and translate technical requirements into sustainable technical concepts. You pass on your knowledge, support colleagues as mentor and actively develop our cloud and data engineering portfolio – including demos and proof-of-concepts in the presales.

You have a university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics or a comparable field – or a comparable practical experience. You bring several years of experience (about 5+ years) in data engineering and have already managed projects or subprojects independently. You work safely with SQL and Python and know modern data stack tools like dbt, Airflow, Spark or Kafka. Experience with the Google Cloud Platform is beneficial; We expressly appreciate know-how in other clouds such as Azure, AWS or Snowflake and Databricks. You follow current AI developments attentively and can assess where GenAI, LLMs and agents are creating real added value – and where not. You are a team player with high communication strength and quality awareness and speak fluent German and English.
