Stade - The Romantic Hanseatic City

The Hanseatic city of Stade with 48,000 inhabitants is located on the southwestern shore of the Unterelbe, about 45 km west of Hamburg and 60 km east of Cuxhaven. It is part of the Hamburg metropolitan region. Visitors to the city as well as their residents love walks on the nearby banks of the swing, on the city harbour and in the historic old town with their jewel houses. The walls in the west and south offer beautiful views of the Burggraben, which includes the centre. There are numerous shops, restaurants and cafés. The cultural and conference centre STADEUM offers diverse events such as theatre and concert performances of all genres. Various kindergartens, basic and advanced schools form an extensive educational network. Stade is well connected by Bundesstraße 73, Bundesstraße 74 and the A26 to the long-distance network. The same applies to regional and national railway connections. The regional rail traffic between Stade and Hamburg is also served by trains from the Hamburg S-Bahn line S3. Hamburg Airport is also easy and quick to reach.
