The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft currently operates 76 institutes and research institutions in Germany and is one of the leading organisations for application-oriented research. At the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS, more than 230 employees research and develop individual solutions of microelectronics, reliable sensor technology and integrated AI for our conveyors and customers from the economy. The area of smart sensor technology for biomedical applications is a strategic field of growth for Fraunhofer IMS. For example, our solutions developed so far enable novel diagnostics and therapy for patients with brain overpressure, automated production of cell-based cancer therapies, the AI-assisted detection of atrial dimmers in an EKG patch and the relief of nurses by means of camera-based vital parameter detection in care robots. As the head* of the product group, you will build the biomedical sensor system at Fraunhofer IMS. Here you analyze the medical technology and in vitro diagnostics market and develop a uniform strategy for the marketing and further development of our innovations.

They develop a comprehensive overview of the global activities in the field of biomedical sensor technology, for example wearables, implantable sensors and biosensors, by researching market studies, scientific publications and patents or visiting dedicated events. The technology needs extracted in this way prepare you in a structured manner and thus go into internal exchange to balance them with the existing technologies. On this basis, you will develop a 5-year strategy for positioning the institute in the field of research. Together with the scientific departments, you define development measures based on technology grades (TRLs) and decide on necessary advances. In addition, you plan to secure intellectual property through a patent strategy. The new acquisition of public and industrial projects is also in your hands. Take care of the application for the authorisation of funding or create the appropriate offers. To access a larger network of partners from companies, clinics, contractors and universities, visit trade fairs, conferences or Matchmaking events or organize workshops. They promote the perception of the institute through contributions on our website or on social media channels such as LinkedIn and, together with our PR team, develop the implementation of new content in the form of flyers or videos. Large-scale projects with the involvement of several scientific departments and external project partners successfully lead you to the conclusion and ensure that a high customer satisfaction and quality of the research results mandates connecting projects.
