Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d)

Technical responsibility for connecting different source systems and building stable data pipelines as the basis of our data products. Conception and implementation of robust ingest patterns – from batch processing to high volume streaming – as well as continuous optimization of pipelines. Structured processing and transformation of raw data across different data zones towards harmonised and performant data products. Ensuring a stable pipeline operation with focus on availability, security, scalability and cost efficiency. Close cooperation with the Lead Data Platform Engineer in establishing modern development standards and technical support and mentoring of the Data Engineers in Bucharest and Ulm. Joint development of appropriate data products with the disciplines that solve specific business requirements and problems. Designing the cultural transformation from classic DWH structures to agile, domain-oriented data product teams based on a central data platform.

At least 4 years of practical experience in cloud data engineering with a focus on data integration and the development of modern data pipelines. Deep technical expertise in the Google Cloud Data Stack (BigQuery, Dataflow, Managed Airflow, Dataplex, Pub/Sub, Cloud DLP) or comparable sound experience on AWS/Azure. Detectable successes in the implementation and automation of stable Lakehouse pipelines with consistent use of infrastructure as code (terraform), modern data transformation frameworks (e.g. dbt core) and CI/CD practices. Knowledge gained in the integration of hybrid data landscapes and diverse source systems, including SAP systems (S/4HANA, CDC, ODP/CDS) and streaming workloads with high data volume. Practical experience in implementing modern governance solutions (e.g. Collibra) as well as robust security and compliance standards (e.g. VPC Service Controls, Policy Tags, GoBD). Strong focus on the continuous protection of system stability, scalability and high data quality. Safe handling of agile working methods as well as professional development standards and the willingness to actively share and live on these best technical practices. English knowledge and very good German and/or Romanian knowledge.
