Your tasks

• Implementation of courses in German and English in all courses of study (Bachelor and Master) of the faculty with the inclusion of study, project and final work
• Configuration of Methods and Competence in the Basic, Specialized and Specialized Studies of Constructive Engineering
• Conception and implementation of teaching-supporting exercises, study work and projects
• initiation and implementation of own research projects or Participation in jointly initiated and interdisciplinary research projects
• Working in the teaching of basic subjects
• Cooperation in academic self-government

Your profile

As a placeholder (w/m/d) you represent the field of timber construction in teaching, applied research and transfer. A dedicated personality with a well-founded practical experience in the field of constructional timber construction is sought, which further develops the topic of the future “Building with Wood” in an application-oriented manner and conveys it to students of civil engineering in a modern, engineering-scientific context.

The focus of the professorship is on the structural design and construction of timber structures, taking into account current standards, sustainable construction and digital tools. An interest in in interdisciplinary issues in the field of resource-saving construction, innovation and architecture is desired.

Expected:

• Multiannual professional experience in timber construction and in general construction
• In-depth knowledge of the structural planning of timber structures
• Safe handling of relevant rules of construction timber construction
• Experience in the planning and execution of timber construction projects
• Good networking with construction practice and/or specialist bodies
• Very good knowledge of German and good English that enable a qualified teaching in German and English

Remarkable are:

• Experience with digital teaching formats as well as sustainable and resource-saving planning solutions
• Willingness to work with the Faculty of Architecture as part of jointly organized courses or courses Project work
• Experiences in glass construction as well as in the constructive connection of glass and wood or Steel components
• Commitment in the group of teachers for structural engineering in the development of the constructive laboratory with the aim of application-oriented research in timber construction

The enrolled professorship is aimed at personalities who want to bring joy in working with students, to convey teaching content in a practical and inspiring manner and at the same time to set impulses for research and development in timber construction.

Setting requirements

Basic requirement is a completed university degree. The special ability to scientific work is to be demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate or by an expert opinion on promotional adequate services. The pedagogical aptitude, which is usually demonstrated by experience in teaching, high-degree skills and a trial course, is expected. Special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods must be demonstrated in at least five years of professional practice, which must be acquired after completion of university studies and which must have been carried out by at least three years outside the higher education sector. In special cases, proof of professional practice outside the higher education sector may be carried out by providing a significant proportion of professional activity in cooperation between the higher education institution and non-university professional practice over a period of at least five years.
