The lack of availability of (open) data means that the potential for evidence-based decisions is not exploited. In our project data for society, we are committed to promoting the importance of (open) data for the common good and facilitating access to it. Central building blocks for this are the municipal data portal Wegweiser Kommune and the data atlas civil society.

We are looking for the exciting tasks of the project “Data for Society” from September 2026 for 4 months:n Intern:in. You support us the task of making two of Germany's most important municipal and civil society data portals more accessible and visible Analysis and Evaluation of the User Experience of the Landlord and the Data Atlas Civil Society independent identification of vulnerabilities in user management and the development of concrete recommendations for improvement Planning and implementation of user interviews and usability tests and derivation of optimization potentials Improvement of the organic traceability of portals in search engines (SEO) and generic AI (GEO) Optimization of benefits, explanations and content for understandable benefits

Studies in Data Science, Media and Communication Informatics, Information Sciences or Similar Degrees Interested in using-centric design of digital products Analytical thinking and joy in preparing complex information first knowledge of common UX methods (e.g. interviews, usability tests, user journeys, personas) and in the field of SEO and web analytics are advantageous Safe handling of digital collaboration and design tools (e.g. Figma, Miro or comparable tools) Very good knowledge of German and a structured and independent way of working Especially interesting for you if you how data-based digital portals will be developed for social impact visibly improve the user experience of two rich data portals and bring your recommendations directly into product development want to work at the interface of data, design and social impact
