''Research for a life without cancer'' is our task at the German Cancer Research Centre. We are investigating how cancer arises, finding cancer risk factors and looking for new strategies to prevent people from suffering from cancer. We are developing new methods that allow tumours to be more precise and cancer patients to be treated more effectively. Every contribution counts – whether in research, administration or infra structure. This makes our daily work so important and exciting. The Cancer Information Service of the German Cancer Research Center conveys in a comprehensible language current, quality-tested knowledge of cancer by telephone, e-mail and on the Internet. To support the Working Group 'Internet and Social Media', we are looking for a medical journalist:in / online editor:in (m/w/d). Reference number: 2025-0164

In close cooperation with colleagues, for the website of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT, nct.dkfz.de), you will create patient-comprehensible descriptions on clinical trials of the NCT as well as basic texts on cancer. Your tasks include: To summarize and rewrite studies synopses and other relevant documents of clinical studies in patient-comprehensible language Creation of online information texts on cancer Working with the image and video editor In addition, the editorial team of the Cancer Information Service will assist you in their editorial tasks for the website www.krebsinformationsdienst.de and its social media channels. A responsible, relevant and versatile working environment awaits you in a dedicated and creative team in the field of digital health and science communication. After a start-up phase in presence, you will have the opportunity to work day-by-day in the home office.

You have a completed scientific or medical degree (e.g. human medicine, biology, pharmacy). In addition, you will bring training or well-founded professional experience in science or medical journalism. Experiences with clinical studies and online journalism are beneficial. Very good German language skills in word and writing (comparable with native language levels) are essential. It gives you great pleasure to prepare complex medical issues in a comprehensible and targeted manner. At the same time, you are able to research original scientific publications, specialist and study databases and to evaluate the evidence of researched facts. We require interest in oncology, as well as excellent knowledge in dealing with MS Office, experiences with content management systems and the willingness to teamwork. Knowledge of image processing and video production is desirable.
