Budget and Resource Planning in Research Management

The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a globally leading international research centre dedicated to the discovery of new approaches to the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. At the Bonn site, the team of population-related health research under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Monique M. B. Breteler explores causes and biomarkers for the normal and pathological development of mental and physical health during adulthood. A special focus is on neurodegenerative and age-related diseases. As part of the Rheinland study, a team of more than 85 persons collects and analyzes data. In order to support the research management of population-related health research, the position of a lecturer on budget and resources (m/w/d) should be taken at the next possible time. In your function, Prof. Breteler, Director of Population-related Health Research, and the Management Team of Population-related Health Research in all budget-relevant and strategic control and planning processes. For this purpose, as part of the management team, you take responsibility for the resource planning and management of the research area in coordination with the study management and ensure the targeted and efficient use of institutional resources as well as of third-party funds through proactive monitoring, consulting and coordination. In addition, you contribute to consolidating existing structures and creating the conditions for sustainable growth and the successful implementation of the next phase of study. Short, medium and long-term budget planning Budget controlling Creation and development of regular budget reports and scenario calculations as a basis for planning and decision-making Processing of purchasing and procurement processes – from the production of required documents to the collection of tenders up to the processing of invoices Support for over- and under-year personnel planning and personnel control Participation in and coordination of the planning of necessary investments Conception, development and implementation of sustainable financing models for the Rhineland Study Participation in the conclusion, monitoring and follow-up of service, maintenance and other service contracts Support and coordination of other projects and administrative tasks in the management team

Complete university studies in a relevant field (e.g. business management, health management, public management, economics/administrative sciences, science management or life sciences / [bio]medicine) and relevant professional experience in research/university management Affinity for budget-relevant planning processes, as well as several years of proven professional experience in budget and resource planning, controlling and managing third-party and institutional resources in the field of research Knowledge gained in the handling of procurement processes and the willingness to reliably process operational tasks in the daily business Safe handling of budget reporting, scenario calculations and common controlling tools (e.g. Excel and SAP) Individual initiative as well as team- and solution-oriented work with pronounced analytical capabilities Very good communication skills in German and English Enthusiasm for innovative population-related health research and the further development of a long-term research infrastructure
