With the fulfillment of our customer orders (Customer Fulfillment or CF) everything started for Amazon. The Customer Fulfillment Team has now changed from a modest team of book retailers: to a highly experienced global team that handles more than 1.5 million orders every day. The team is the basis of our business and has helped us broaden into new regions and services. With the help of emerging technology, we are constantly looking for ways to offer a larger and better product selection – which is delivered quickly and inexpensively. The CF team members ensure that our customers receive their orders at the speed we are known for. We work in filling centers that form the heart of Amazon's dynamic operating network. Our full-filment centers are sometimes also referred to as the “first mile” (First Mile) – here most Amazon packages start their shipping route. We support the management of a dynamic stock and enable quick delivery around the clock. A wide range of staff groups are employed in our filling centres. There are numerous possibilities for people with a variety of skills. Some of us work with physical products. Others analyse data and help make smart decisions across the company.

A day in the life Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This important part of our business ensures that we efficiently fulfill and ship orders so that our customers receive their products in time. As an Area Manager, you make sure that your location runs as smoothly as it should, so that we can meet customer demand. You will lead a team that will help ensure that our processes are safe, efficient and of high quality, and you will take over a number of projects throughout our network to increase productivity.

You work in the layer system and make sure it is as productive as possible. Your main focus is on promoting a safety culture and maintaining quality and layer performance standards. You will also monitor process improvements in your area and promote their implementation. A typical working day is varied and ranges from routine team management and daily operational tasks to process improvements and comprehensive operational emergency tasks. You are also a role model and mentor for new executives.

Basic qualifications

• Degree of study
• Leadership experience
• Relevant experience in communication with different stakeholders, including colleagues and executives
• Relevant experience in using data or anecdotal evidence to justify business decisions
• Advanced English and German knowledge in word and writing Preferred qualifications
• Experience in working with Lean, Six-Sigma and Kaizen methods
• Experience with work in another logistics environment
• Experience in working with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment

About the team The logistics department at Amazon (AMZL) is responsible for the “Last-Mile logistics” – i.e. the delivery of our packages in partnership with third parties. We think creatively and implement initiatives for continuous improvement to deliver millions of physical products to our customers. Our goal is to make the delivery experience for our customers as smooth as possible and to introduce global delivery solutions for our latest offers, including Amazon Fresh, Prime Now and Amazon restaurants. These activities are carried out by two groups of employees. Our “internal” employees prepare millions of products for shipping to our delivery teams. Our team is human-oriented and helpful. This is particularly important because many of our employees work in night shifts. Our focus is mainly on operating. Most of our locations work around the clock. During the course, our “outside service” employees work with Amazon Flex – a contractor network for delivery. Every year we set new standards in terms of customer experience and offer new, innovative delivery services. We are looking for new ways to overcome industry-wide logistics challenges, as well as new ideas to reduce our carbon footprint. We support a fleet of innovative vehicles (including e-vehicles) and state-of-the-art technology. .
