Senior Backend Engineer - Engagement

This role is ideal for an engineer who excels technical but so poses strong soft skills for stakeholder engagement. You will be a vital contributor, collaborating closely with the Product Owner and UX/UI Designers to translate user needs into seamless and scalable backend systems, directly impacting the foundational experience of every new N26 customer. This is a hybrid role based in Berlin or Barcelona. Collaborate closely with your Tech Lead on architecting new features and seeing them through to completion. Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software in a thriving environment. Actively work across multiple team boundaries, constant reviewing, understanding, and contributing modifications to codebases owned by peer engineering teams to facilitate seamless feature integration. Proactively engage with technical stakeholders across the organization —finding key contacts, initiating discussions, influencing priorities, and driving alignment necessary for project success. Operate on a pragmatic, two-week iteration cycle, maintain a consistent and reliable rhythm to ensure steady, valuable releases. What you need to be successful: Background: Experience in developing software using a JVM language and Spring boat in large-scale production systems (experience with cotlin would be a plus). Sound understanding microservice architecture. Knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases, preference Postgres. Appreciation of working in a modern cloud architecture, preferably with AWS. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills (soft skills) with the confidence to use them to manage cross-team dependencies and priorities. Strong technical ability read, comprehend, and modify codebases from other teams. Traits: Professional proficiency in English Actively help yourself (and others) be successful.
