Project Engineer Telematics Systems (m/f/d)

In this position you play a central role in the planning, implementation and further development of modern traffic telematic systems in the field of federal highways and federal roads. Your main tasks include comprehensive project coordination, from planning to design, to the preparation of telematics systems. These include, inter alia, route control systems, network influencing systems, lane signaling, node control systems, park control systems, temporary side strip releases, traffic and environment data acquisition systems and cooperative intelligent transport systems. You are also involved in dams, traffic control systems for tunnels and discharge systems for control stations of the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility. You are responsible for the design and planning of the telematics infrastructure, taking into account relevant technical regulations, administrative regulations and legal requirements. In addition, you will take over the project management in the case of new construction, reconstruction and retrofitting measures, including the tendering, procurement preparation, monitoring and settlement of the measures. Its task also includes the implementation of traffic studies in the context of pre-planning. These include, in particular, inventory analyses, traffic forecasts and traffic production calculations. A further part of your activity is the preparation of economic and operational studies for transport telematic installations. You conduct consultations with internal and external parties, participate in local meetings and represent the projects to various organisations and third parties concerned. In addition, you are actively engaged in innovation and pilot projects by developing creative and future-oriented solutions. This includes, for example, the development and piloting of purely passive displays towards connected, cooperative and AI-based systems or state-oriented maintenance. Participation in professional work groups completes your task profile.

You have a completed (special) university degree in the field of transport engineering or comparable expertise, qualifications and experience. Ideally, you already have practical experience in planning, design and construction preparation and construction and have a sound knowledge of project management. In addition, you are familiar with the creation and processing of engineering, construction and maintenance contracts and have knowledge of procurement and contract law. In addition, you have knowledge of the relevant technical standards and regulations, for example the leaflet for the equipment of traffic control centres and subcentres (MARZ), the guidelines for the design and equipment of engineering buildings (RE-ING) and the guidelines for changeable traffic signs (RWVA, RWVZ). You are also aware of the guidelines and regulations of the Federal Construction Administration and the relevant provisions of the Federal Budget Law. You have reliable knowledge of German at level C1, have a class B driving licence and are ready to take service trips.

That would be desirable: It is also desirable to have knowledge of subject-related data processing, in particular in the handling of CAD and GIS applications. Experiences with software solutions such as iTWO, SAP or comparable programs are advantageous.
