Number: MER0003OGI Mercedes-Benz Group AG is one of the most successful automotive companies in the world. With Mercedes-Benz AG and Mercedes-Benz Cars, Mercedes-Benz Vans and Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest and most successful providers of premium cars. We are innovative experience. In our cross-functional team “Future UX-Concepts & UX-SW-Technologies” we design the vision of our UX Vision for the Mercedes-Benz user experience of the future. With this vision we develop a new, holistic customer experience in our vehicles and beyond. Our customers are at the heart of the Mercedes-Benz Experience. The perception of needs, emotions and reactions of users is becoming increasingly important in the interaction between people and intelligent systems. With the increasing possibilities of modalities such as, for example, an AI-assisted speech output to be variably used in their emotional expression, or to design system-side functional properties adapted individually and in situ on the basis of user behavior, many open questions arise from the possibilities of perception of user behavior, system condition and environmental properties for designing future UX concepts in the vehicle. We want to identify potential scenarios as part of a final thesis and to make at least one preferred approach to a prototypical implementation possible on the basis of a first assessment. As part of a subsequent evaluation, the pre-established thesis of work is to be evaluated and the results analyzed. The completion of the work is scheduled for 5-6 months. With the final work, we want to investigate further insights into the use of affective computing technologies with a focus on eye recognition for use in multimodal UX concepts in and on the vehicle and to develop approaches. We see the following tasks: Research on technologies & scientific work on affective computing and its transferability to a UX context in or on the vehicle with a focus on visual control Creating a potential assessment based on the search results including derived concrete thesis for the questions to be examined Presentation of user journeys/user stories for the concretization of a subsequent prototypical implementation in one of our digital, multi-modal experience environments with possibly required extensions in hardware and software, e.g. required sensors Conception, preparation and implementation of initial evaluation Scientific documentation of the methodology and results of the respective steps Preparation and implementation of results The final topics will be discussed with the university, you and us. Thesis / Bachelor thesis / Master thesis can begin from October 2025.
