Branch: Humanities Branch: Humanities

The Max Planck Institute for Neurobiology of Behavior – CAESAR (MPINB) in Bonn conducts basic research in the field of neuroethology. The international research team investigates how the collective activity of countless nerve cells creates animal behavior throughout its spectrum. Interdisciplinary research ranges from the representation of neural circuits at nano-level to the analysis of neuronal activity in a freely moving and naturally acting animal. The MPINB works closely with the University of Bonn and other research institutes in the region and forms the next generation of researchers, including in a joint graduate school. We are looking at the next time Senior Consultant (m/w/div) in our mechanical workshop (in full time at 39 hours/week)

We are looking at the next time Senior Consultant (m/w/div) in our mechanical workshop (in full time at 39 hours/week) As part of our team of mechanical workshop, you will support the scientific departments and research groups of our institute with your work. You design, manufacture, assemble and test various workpieces, components and spare parts used in the laboratories and other institutions of the institute. Almost the entire range of activities from the field of professional mechanics is required: from production drawing to the final product of a subassembly you are involved. This process involves just as classical tasks as turning, milling, drilling and welding, as well as laser processing and production of 3D printing models. In most cases we produce unique or small series that we develop and construct in cooperation with the scientists for the specific needs of the research projects. We are not concerned with large numbers of pieces, but with precise and individual solutions for very different tasks and requirements of science.

You have successfully completed an apprenticeship in the field of mechanical engineering (tool mechanics, precision mechanics, industrial mechanics, etc.) and have already further qualified with a technician or master training. Ideally, you have gained professional experience in a similarly wide range of applications and acquired basic construction skills. You are safe in the programming of CNC machines, can read and create technical drawings and have correspondingly good computer skills in the relevant applications, e.g. Heidenhain controls, CAD and CAM. If you already have experience with team organization and project planning, you are particularly interesting for us. We also expect you to make an important contribution to the success of our research with your good analytical skills, a creative approach and comprehensive craft skills. You have good knowledge of German in word and writing and basic knowledge of English. You also work team-oriented, are reliable and have a high sense of responsibility.

We offer a performance-oriented remuneration according to the public service tariff (TVöD Bund) incl. Pension provision of the public service (VBL), a funded job ticket, a family-friendly institute culture, flexible working hours and a demanding and varied activity. We initially offer a temporary job for 2 years with the possibility of taking over to an unlimited working relationship. Working in a dedicated team, in an exciting, challenging and varied field of activity within our scientific environment and in a modernly equipped workshop, we consider an attractive workplace that also offers you the possibility of continuing training. The aim of the Max Planck Society is to employ more people with difficulty. Applications for seriously disabled people are expressly desired. The Max Planck Society strives for gender equality and diversity. We welcome applications of any background. Furthermore, the Max Planck Society aims to increase the proportion of women in the areas in which You are underrepresented. Women are therefore expressly asked to apply. The job is in principle part-time, provided that the full-day performance of the tasks is ensured by job sharing. .
