Senior IT Monitoring Engineer (m/f/d)

You manage our Enterprise Checkmk environment and ensure stability and performance. You manage hosts, services, rules, folders, contact groups, site configurations as well as alerting thresholds and notification rules. You validate the host/service discovery and ensure the consistency of the service checks. You develop and maintain your own checks and agent plugins in Python or Shell to connect specific customer requirements, interfaces or non-standardized applications to the monitoring. You design and care dashboards to ensure a clear overview of system condition, availability and critical alarms. You plan and implement regular checkmk upgrades, patches, agent updates and subsequent validations including optional Linux OS maintenance. You process service and incident tickets. As Senior IT Monitoring Engineer (m/w/d), you take over more than just the daily operation: You actively shape the further development of our IT landscape. Both in technical terms and through the optimization of work processes. You are a key player for the Professional and Junior System Engineers (m/w/d) in the team and promote their development through coaching and knowledge sharing. You are responsible for the design and scalability of our global monitoring architecture and ensure that it remains highly available and performant even in future growth. You act as an interface and consultant for other specialist departments, translate their business requirements into measurable technical metrics and create maximum transparency with target group-oriented dashboards. You continuously evaluate new technologies and trends in monitoring and observability (e.g. AIOps, cloud monitoring) in order to set up our tools and standards for the future.

You bring well-founded practical experience in the administration of Checkmk (Enterprise / Pro) in production environments. You have experience in configuration of hosts, services, rules, folders, contact groups and sites. You have Linux administration skills (RHEL, Rocky, Debian). You have practical knowledge in the operation and troubleshooting of Linux servers where checkmk is hosted. You bring well-founded experience in the development of checks and plugins in the relevant script languages Python, Shell and PowerShell. You are sure to deal with log analyses, service management and the troubleshooting of hard disk, storage and process problems. You have a solid understanding of monitoring concepts, including availability, performance, thresholds and SLAs. Ideally, you bring certifications in relevant technologies. You convince with strong problem solving capabilities and the ability to solve complex fault images quickly, sustainably and customer-oriented. You have a strong team capability and customer orientation; your communication style is also proactive and transparent. You have very good knowledge of German and English in word and writing. You own a class B license.
