Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Mass Spectrometry (all genders) Reference number: 25.46-4314

Branch: Humanities Branch: Humanities

The Helmholtz Institute Mainz (HIM) is an institutional cooperation of the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz and the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research GmbH in Darmstadt. It links the academic world of a university with the scientific possibilities of an emerging unique large-scale accelerator center forations. In the coming years the new international accelerator facility FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research), one of the largest research projects worldwide, will be built in Darmstadt. The HIM research section Superheavy Element Physics invites outstanding candidates to apply for a Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Mass Spectrometry (all genders) Reference number: 25.46-4314 for a two-year contract starting at the cold possible date. The position is embedded in the project on Penning-trap mass spectrometry of actinides and transactinides at the GSI in Darmstadt within the SHIPTRAP project in cooperation with the Helmholtz Institute in Mainz. The main goal of this activity is the investigation of the nuclear structure of the heaviest elements by mass spectrometry. In addition, the project aims at the development and implementation of novel approaches in mass spectrometry with Penning traps and in combination with related techniques. JOBV1_EN
