IT specialist for Linux (w/m/d)

In our IPv6 test laboratory, we provide our customers with a multi-tenant test environment with virtual and physical network components. As part of our small admin team, you actively shape the structure, operation and development of this environment.

In doing so, you bring your technical know-how and, together with us, develop a powerful, safe and sustainable laboratory environment according to current technical standards. For complex questions, you can refer to the expertise of our colleagues from different IT areas.

You manage and run our Proxmox clusters and VMware hosts as well as Linux servers based on Debian and Ubuntu. The configuration and operation of infrastructure services such as proxy services (nginx, authentic), DNS and routers are also part of your tasks. You automate administration and configuration tasks with Ansible and NetBox and continuously develop our environment. For a stable and secure operation, you can expect regular security updates, maintenance and optimization. You enter our EVE-NG instances including the required QEMU images and, if necessary, support the configuration of our Cisco-based network infrastructure. Technical configurations and changes can be documented and are available to our customers for technical questions as contact persons. In addition, you are responsible for the continuous maintenance and updating of technical documentation, system configurations and operational processes and ensure their transparent traceability.

You have well-founded practical experience in the administration of Linux systems and basic network infrastructures. In dealing with Linux, virtual machines and basic infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP and Git, you are safe and bring knowledge to VLANs, firewalls and static routing. IT security is a part of your work for you, of course – in particular System Hardening, Zero Trust and a safe handling of accesses and permissions. You use Bash and Python for scripting and automation and can analyze and solve technical problems on your own. Ideally, you will also bring knowledge in individual areas such as IPv6, IPAM/DCIM, Proxmox, VMware, EVE-NG/QEMU, APIs, monitoring or backup strategies.
