The new radiology provides diagnostic and interventional neuroradiological services to the entire university hospital as well as a network of co-oping hospitals. Clinical focal points of the department are MR imaging in neurooncology, multiple sclerosis, stroke, peripheral nervous system diseases, dental MRI and interventional neuroradiology. There is a full training authorization for neuroradiology and 3.5 years of training authorization for diagnostic radiology. Diagnostic radiology is carried out in a joint curriculum with the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology (Prof. Dr. Kauczor), the Thoraxklinik Heidelberg (Prof. Dr. Heußel), the Radiology of the German Cancer Research Centre (Prof. Dr. Schlemmer) and the Klinikum Frankfurt Höchst (Prof. Dr. Müller-Schimpfle). Scientific interest in experimental and/or clinical research is explicitly supported. In addition to all diagnostic and interventional procedures in medical care, there is access to an own 9.4 T experimental MR scanner and a 3T clinical research scanner focusing on ischemia, molecular imaging, MR neurography, dental MRI and neurooncology. The possibility for habilitation is given and is promoted. The standby service is carried out as a presence service (level D/shift service).
