Mörfelden-Walldorf is an emerging city in the heart of Hessen and with around 35,000 inhabitants the second largest city in the district of Groß-Gerau – conveniently centrally located in the Rhine-Main area, in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Mainz and Darmstadt. As of 1 April 2026 we offer in the main office a limited period for two years Scientific Volontariat (m/d) for city museums The two very different museums of our double town preserve, explore and convey the diverse history of the two districts. The history of the much older district of Mörfelden is characterized by traces from the Bronze Age and the first written mention in the 9th. century to an exceptionally strong working-class movement in the early 20th century. Contrary to this is the early modern Walldorf, which was founded in 1699 as Waldenserkolonie and was able to establish itself as a place after a difficult initial period. Another focus is the history and work-up of the former KZ outer camp Walldorf. The task and goal of the next years is to connect the two houses to the modern museum landscape and to develop and establish new exhibition and museum educational formats.
