The Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Stabi) is one of the largest and most powerful libraries in Europe. We are talking about 80 languages, developing world-class knowledge resources and want to promote international exchange and free access to information with the latest technologies. Founded in 1661, we consistently focus on digital sovereignty and the active participation of our benefiters. In the Information and Data Management department, more than 50 colleagues work in an interdisciplinary manner on the digital transformation of the staff as well as on their new and further development in close cooperation with the librarians:inside and with national and international partners:inside in innovative projects. In this position, you actively shape the further development of our digital system landscape and develop sustainable and interoperable software architectures for science and research. This creates sustainable and interoperable digital offers for science and research. Our diverse technology landscape includes Java, Jakarta EE, Spring/Spring Boot, Quarkus, React, Node.js, Apache Kafka and Apache Solr as well as Python, PHP and various database systems. We use Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines for development and deployment. The operation is increasingly characterized by containerization and Kubernetes.

Analysis of technical requirements and digital humanities requirements as well as development of interoperable architecture, data and functional models Further development of architectural specifications and reference architectures as well as support for implementation, integration, testing and operational transfer Development and evaluation of technical solutions alternatives taking into account technological and economic aspects and preparation of economic considerations Preparation and presentation of complex content for different bodies and stakeholders Advising specialist departments and IT management as well as taking over tasks in project management

Completed academic degree (Master, Magister/Magistra, University Diploma or equivalent degree) in the field of computer science, information technology, media informatics or a related subject or equivalent skills and experience related to the subject area Multiannual experience in the design and development of distributed software architectures, in particular in the context of microservices and API-based systems Very good knowledge of agile software development and experience in supporting development teams in implementing architecture and quality standards Impressed communication and team skills as well as the ability to understand complex technical contexts Very good knowledge of German and good knowledge of English in word and writing Requested: Certification as software architect (e.g. iSAQB CPSA-F/CPSA-A) or comparable proven knowledge Experience with classic and agile project management methods as well as in the professional management of development or project teams Experience in domain drives design (DDD) and test driven development (TDD) Experience in the design and integration of search and retrieval systems, especially with Apache Solr Knowledge of semantic data models and interoperable standards in library and cultural heritage, in particular Linked Open Data (LOD), RDF, SPARQL, SKOS and IIIF
