With the 2030 mobility plan, the city of Oldenburg sets a clear framework for sustainable, efficient and climate-friendly transport development. A central component is the close interconnection of the urban transport network with the rail network of the Deutsche Bahn, which is in federal sovereignty. The aim is to intelligently coordinate infrastructure, urban development and transport planning and to strengthen the railway as a supporting pillar of the environmental network. The focus is on efficient interfaces between rail and urban infrastructure: modern railway areas, attractive multimodal hubs and secure and barrier-free routes. Wheel and foot traffic are consistently integrated into the development of the stations. At the same time, the city ensures that urban development is coordinated with the operational and planning conditions of the Deutsche Bahn. Approval and participation processes are also coordinated and transparently controlled. Against the background of the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2035, the city-friendly design of the transport infrastructure is of particular importance. Although the rail network itself is not in municipal competence, the city is making a decisive contribution to achieving its climate targets through the targeted development of the local infrastructure and close cooperation with the Deutsche Bahn. Your role as an engineer in railway matters: You actively shape the mobility of tomorrow. You develop technical and conceptual solutions for the infrastructure in the vicinity of the rail, control coordination processes with the Deutsche Bahn and other project partners and accompany projects from idea to implementation. Your field of responsibility ranges from project management, technical evaluation of traffic and urban planning measures, planning interface infrastructure to cooperation with politics and the public. This is how you play a key role in developing Oldenburg's transport system in a reliable and sustainable manner.
