The professional image of the software developer changes just faster than in the last twenty years. Write code is increasingly delegated. What remains and gains importance: the ability to set the right context, evaluate results and understand systems as a whole.

At Hellmann we are working on the fact that this change does not remain an abstract topic of the future for our product development. We are currently actively implementing the tools and procedures - across all eight product teams working on Hero, our new transport management system for European land transport.

Hero solves a legacy system that has been controlling German land traffic for decades. It is live, it grows, and it needs developers who are interested in two things at the same time: penetrate a complex specialist domain and continuously question their own way of working.

The Team Direct Load is responsible for the self-developed TMS for direct traffic - already productive in Germany, now in the international rollout. You work cross-functional with Product Owner and UX designer. Self-organisation means with us: you bear responsibility from conception to operation, in a team that lives these values.

Stack

Frontend: Angular, Angular Material, TypeScript, RxJS · Backend: Java, Kotlin, Kafka (Event Streaming), Event Sourcing, CQRS · Databases: MongoDB/DocumentDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch · Platform: AWS, Kubernetes · Observability: Prometheus, Grafana You shape the migration of LitElements to Angular and thus the front-end architecture with and behind, which does not wear

You work with logistics experts who explain why direct traffic from Munich to Milan follows other rules than from Hamburg to Hannover

You build the UIs with which dispatchers work daily - in close cooperation with UX design, so that the surfaces not only work, but really fit

You build with the Harness for Agentic Software Engineering - the workflows, prompts and guardrails with which AI-generated code comes into production with us

If it requires the feature, you will also get backend

Forced required: Multi-year, well-founded front-end experience with Angular and TypeScript

Solid understanding of reactive programming (RxJS)

Experience with Testing Strategies in Frontend (Unit, Integration, E2E)

Experience in backend development with Java or Kotlin - you don't have to be an expert, but have no fear of touch

Feeling for good UX and the ability to work with designers at eye level

Real curiosity about the logistics domain

Openness to the question of how your role as a developer will change in the next few years - and desire to agree to the answer

German language skills

Advantage: Experience with Angular Material or other Component Libraries

Knowledge of cloud-native development (AWS, Kubernetes)

Experience with international rollouts or multi-tenant architectures
