Future tasks The professorship has represented the subject area of animal hygiene and animal health control in teaching (according to TAppV § 32 “Animal conservation and animal hygiene” and § 39 “Animal control and infection epidemiology”), research and service. In the field of animal health control, teaching is carried out in cooperation with the Centre for Infection Medicine. The chair of the Institute for Animal Hygiene and Public Veterinary Medicine is connected to the professorship.

It is expected that the professorship will strengthen the faculty's research profile, especially the one-health approach, and will address topics for the rapid detection and containment of infectious diseases in animals, animal diseases and zoonoses (Pandemic Preparedness).
