The district of Bergedorf is with a total of 12 km2 of water areas, of which about 3000 km of waterway, the wateriest district outside the Hamburg harbour area. The district water authority is located in the Department of Economics, Building and the Environment. It accompanies all approval processes within the scope of its own sphere of jurisdiction and thus ensures that appropriate consideration is given to water and technical matters.
