The BBR is a federal authority in the department of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB). The main tasks are the implementation of construction measures by the Federal Government, in particular for the constitutional bodies and for the ministries in Berlin, Bonn and abroad as well as for the cultural structures of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin. The VF I 3 unit is responsible for the complex major project for the protocol area of the Federal Government and the constitutional bodies at the BER airport, briefly called the government airport. These include both construction measures and the construction of aircraft operating areas with the necessary technical installations. In the coming years, numerous buildings and infrastructures are being built at the Berlin-Schönefeld site. Particular emphasis is placed on the achievement of the federal climate policy objectives and the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the planning process.
