We research, develop and evaluate new visual systems and ensure the optimal use and networking of sensors, with the aim of processing and evaluating the data streams produced. The designated position includes the management of the SIGNATORIK department. The department deals with the optimization of electro-optical systems as well as with technologies for evaluating and managing signatures in the atmosphere. The research activities focus in particular on the topics Warnsensorik, adaptive optics, high-resolution quantum systems, signature evaluation and atmospheric optics.

You run an interdisciplinary scientific department with five research groups. You are responsible for the acquisition, planning and implementation of research and application projects. You take over the qualified management as well as the professional management of internal and cross-departmental projects. You represent the scientific topics of the department vis-à-vis partners from research, industry and the Federal Armed Forces. You initiate and coordinate international research projects and design innovative concepts together with partners from NATO, EDA and Bundeswehr. You develop forward-looking research approaches and contribute to the visibility of the department through scientific publications. You keep a close eye on the scientific and economic objectives of the department. You actively represent the department in the IOSB business areas and bodies as well as in national and international specialist bodies.

You have completed your PhD in physics or a comparable discipline with excellent success. You have several years of experience in research and development, ideally in industry or publicly funded research institutions. You are established as a recognized and visible scientific personality in your field. You bring several years of experience in the management of scientific staff. You possess sound scientific and application-oriented knowledge in the field of optics. In dealing with customers and external project partners, you will be confident and convincing. You are characterized by their own initiative and enthusiasm for the design of new research fields. A strong sense of responsibility, analytical thinking and a high level of problem-solving competence complete your profile.
