Senior Consultant (m/w/d) The Institute for Cell Biology of the nervous system of the Technical University of Munich explores the development, function and diseases of the nervous system. With the help of the most modern molecular biological, genetic and microscopic methods, we investigate cellular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases in vivo and in vitro.
Our working group is part of the Cluster of Excellence “SyNergy” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) and works in an internationally connected and interdisciplinary research environment.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a veterinarian / a veterinarian (m/w/d) in full-time or part-time.
The position offers the opportunity to combine veterinary medical expertise in animal welfare, experimental animal studies and genetic engineering with an independent scientific activity. The body comprises about 50% veterinary-regulatory tasks and 50% scientific cooperation in neuroscience research projects.
Your tasks Veterinary and regulatory focus (approximately 50%)
- Advising and supporting scientific staff in the planning, application, implementation and documentation of animal experiments
- Creation, processing and administration of animal testing applications as well as change indications in accordance with animal welfare law (TierSchG) and animal welfare
- Support for compliance and implementation of legal requirements in the field of animal welfare and experimental animal studies
- Communication and coordination with the competent authorities, in particular the Government of Upper Bavaria
- Support for genetic engineering questions and administrative processes according to the Genetics Act (GenTG)
- Support and maintenance of the animal database and other documentation and reporting systems
- Participation in internal training and consultations on regulatory issues
- Independent cooperation on neuroscience research projects
- Planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of experiments
- Application of modern molecular biological, histological and microscopic methods
- Analysis and presentation of scientific results
- Participation in the preparation of scientific publications and third-party applications
- Active participation in scientific exchange within the institute and the joint projects
- Complete studies of veterinary medicine and approval as veterinarian
- Experience in the field of animal experiments
- Funded knowledge of the Animal Welfare Act (TierSchG), the Animal Welfare Ordinance (TierSchVersV) and the regulatory requirements for animal testing
- Experience in the production and maintenance of animal testing applications
- Knowledge of genetic engineering legislation (GenTG) is desirable
- Experience in dealing with licensing and supervisory authorities, in particular the government of Upper Bavaria, is of advantage for scientific work and neuroscience research
- Very good German knowledge of word and writing as well as good English knowledge
