ZEISS Microoptics is a unit of the Photonics & Optics strategic business unit specializing in the development, optimization, mastering, replication and integration of optical applications based on micro-optical and holographic optical elements. Your duties Precision for high-performance optical products needs fingertip feeling and a good eye. Using holography, ZEISS Microoptics implements new lighting, projection and detection systems. With the newly established Aerospace business unit, we expand our business areas and look for a motivated and committed specialist (m/w/x). In this role, you create optical designs for third-generation compact head-up systems for cockpits and transparent holographic displays for modern aircraft cabins. Other tasks include: design and development of micro-optical systems such as head-up displays, holographic optical elements and optical projection systems as well as carrying out associated test methods

Creation of optical designs according to specifications and evaluation of performance and system tolerances and participation in solving challenges in the manufacturing process

Support of project management in technical communication with customers

Cooperation with software engineers in testing and developing software and tools and developing new tools and theoretical models to optimize innovative concepts

Optical simulation, including tolerance calculation and scattered light simulation and modeling of micro-optical components such as diffraction gratings, volume holograms and diffractive optical elements

Design and evaluation of optical structures for exposure of holographic elements

Development of optical test rigs for the validation of micro-optical systems and components

Ready for occasional business trips to our domestic and foreign customers

Complete study of physics or engineering science with a focus on optics

Insufficient professional experience as an optical system designer in the industrial environment

Very good knowledge of wave optics, diffraction theory, holography / interference lithography and microstructure

Knowledge of optics design software such as Zemax, FRED or CODE V at expert level and very good programming skills with Python, Matlab, C# or C++

Self-organizing and result-oriented work as well as strong team skills

Very good communication skills in German and English for stakeholder management
