The network partners are around 140 municipal works – regional and supra-regional energy suppliers and network operators from all over Germany as well as the West Energy – which have joined together in an association without the intention of winning. Through sustainable cooperation, the association enables quick access to competencies and solutions for the success of the energy transition.

Location: Essen | Start: 01.04.2026 | Full time You support our members as a consultant in data protection, which means that you advise our member companies independently and accompany them in all data protection issues. You analyze, check and optimize the data protection organization and processes with our member companies. You are responsible for conducting audits and awareness training as well as the preparation of relevant documentation. You are appointed as Data Protection Officer and are a direct contact person for the supervisory authority. In case of data protection incidents, you support the company. You will inform our member companies about legal innovations and best practices. You can help them analyze risks and develop action options.

You have successfully completed a legal study or have a comparable academic background. You have at least three years of professional experience in data protection, including work as a data protection officer. You have profound knowledge of the GDPR and of the German data protection law. In addition, you have first experiences with European digital legislation, e.g. the EU AI Act. You are used to work independently and structured and take full responsibility for this. You bring knowledge of the technical and organizational implementation of data protection and have a high IT affinity. You are certified as a data protection officer or strive for such certification.
