Research for a society in change: This is our drive at the Forschungszentrum Jülich. As a member of the Helmholtz Association, we face the great social challenges of our time and explore interdisciplinary the digitized society, a climate-saving energy system and sustainable economy. Work together with nearly 7,600 colleagues in one of the largest research centres in Europe and shape the change with us! The Institute of Fusion Energy and Nuclear Waste Management – Plasma Physics (IFN-1) coordinates the research on plasma-wall interaction in fusion plants within the framework of the Helmholtz Association's national fusion programme. These works are part of the European Fusion Programme in the EUROfusion Consortium and include experimental and theoretical aspects of the development and qualification of materials for the first wall in fusion plants as well as the investigation of the plasma-wall interaction in the major experiments Wendelstein 7-X and in future ITER. The material concepts and experimental methods developed in the context of fusion research are also used for renewable energy. The high-temperature material laboratory (HML) as part of the IFN-1 contains various experimental devices including hot cells for characterizing metallic and ceramic materials and composite materials before and after neutron irradiation within a radiation-protection-monitored control region. Strengthen this area as part of the BMFTR project HML-PIE at the next time as Technicians:in / Laborant:in the field of metallography and physical measurement technology (w/m/d)
