We are The Patent and Licensing Service (PuLS) is the central point of contact at Freie Universität Berlin for all questions concerning the legal protection of research results of any kind (especially through patent applications) and the practical implementation of their commercial exploitation. PuLS is part of the Legal Affairs Unit for Research & Transfer in Division VI - Research and Transfer. PuLS contributes to the preservation of the research freedom of the FU Berlin, to the safeguarding of the legal claim of Freie Universität Berlin to its existing research results and to the transfer of these research results to the benefit of society.

The aim of the position is the identification, legal protection, strategic development and economic exploitation of protective research results from the Freie Universität Berlin. Together with the most creative minds of a university of excellence, you will work to protect and secure ideas and research results, advise the projects in decisive steps and thus enable a way to marketing. The patent manager*in accompanies the entire process from the patent application to the patent strategy and patenting to the exploitation in close coordination with researchers, patent attorney law firms, the technology transfer team at Freie Universität Berlin (SHIFT), the foundation funding (Science & Startups) and external recovery partners.

Complete academic studies, preferably in the natural sciences, life sciences, engineering sciences, medicine or a comparable subject. Professional experience in patent management, technology transfer, IP management or in adjacent areas of industrial legal protection. Knowledge of patents, employees' right of finding and the exploitation of university inventions. Very good knowledge of German and English in word and writing. Safe handling of common office applications We wish you Experiences with patent databases and search tools are advantageous. Representative communication and consulting skills in dealing with science, administration and external partners. High levels of analytical thinking, care and negotiation skills.
