The lower Nature Conservation Authority performs its tasks with a team of 29 specialist and administrative staff. In the south of the Hamburg metropolitan region, the Harburg county is located in a vital economic growth area with a constant number of construction projects. In conjunction with its function as a large-scale recreational space with numerous protected areas, high requirements are created for the regulation of landscape-care tasks.

The workplace covers predominantly practical activities in the field of external services, mainly in nature conservation areas and other ecologically important areas of the Harburg district. The focus is on the care, development and entertainment of these areas and the implementation of diverse nature conservation measures: Implementation of care and development measures in nature conservation areas and other areas which are valuable in nature protection (e.g. maid, decooking, wood-care, biotope care) Implementation of measures to guide visitors, entertainment of road and signage systems and smaller landscape works Support for species protection measures (e.g. attaching and maintaining nest aids, biotope structures) Operation, maintenance and maintenance of machines, equipment and vehicles of landscape care (e.g. free cutters, motor saw, mowing technology) Participation in care planning, documentation and coordination of work Cooperation in water protection and dewatering works in the framework of environmental legislation Support for control programmes in protected areas and for the collection of care measures The activity includes physical work in the terrain, working under changing weather conditions and safe handling of machinery, vehicles and equipment of landscape care. The tasks are always carried out in close coordination within the landscape care team and with the specialist colleagues of the Nature Conservation Authority.
