The Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research is a research facility supported by the Federal Republic of Germany, the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and the Länder of Brandenburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony with around 1,400 employees. Education as a specialist:r für Medien- und Informationsdienst – Library (m/w/d/x) Background You want to make knowledge accessible to others and look behind the scenes of a scientific library? We offer a qualified training in our Institute, which has been awarded several times by the IHK, and we are looking for trainees for the Media and Information Services (m/w/d/x) in the department Library for use in our library for August 2027. During your training you will get exciting insights into various areas of library and information. In the second and/or third year of training, you also have the possibility to complete internships in other FaMI disciplines, for example in an archive or a public library.

In the library of the AWI you support the literature and information supply of scientists: in the offices of Bremerhaven, Helgoland, List on Sylt and Potsdam. You learn to get printed and electronic media, to capture and maintain stocks in library systems. In addition, you advise users:inside the library, you help provide the appropriate information for research and science. Completed schooling (at least real school completion) Good grades in German, Mathematics and English Interest in PC and Internet Joy of communication Concentration, care and sense of responsibility Good knowledge of German (according to CEFR level B1+B2) Basic knowledge of English (according to CEFR level A1+A2)
