Department of Urban Drainage (m/f/d)

Responsibility: With direct line of report to the Directorate, you conduct the area of urban drainage strategically and operationally and responsible for operation and investment, economics, water and environmental protection, occupational safety and compliance in a system-critical infrastructure. Leadership & Culture: You run around 200 employees from currently six departments, are direct representation of the Directorate, create clarity, trust, and commitment, and develop standards, processes and cooperation. Developing the future: Developing strategic concepts for key topics of the future, driving forward their implementation at a strategic level and planning the development of the necessary competencies and resources under customer number-based target tracking. The focus is on modernization, digitization and automation, regulatory requirements and resilience. Connecting interfaces: Internally and externally, you consistently promote cooperation – you work closely with directors, planning & new construction, commercial area, IT, authorities, partner municipalities, municipal works, associations and other interest groups. Representation & decision: You represent your area inwards and outwards, prepare resolutions and, if necessary, represent the Directorate – also to bodies and the areas of the administration of Hansestadt Lübeck.

You have an engineering or natural science degree, such as urban water management, environmental engineering or process engineering, civil engineering, water management, mechanical engineering, biology, economic engineering or a comparable qualification. You bring experience in water management / wastewater management, in the operation of technical infrastructure, in plant or network structures or in an adjacent technical environment. You combine open-learning, dialogue-oriented leadership as well as network and communication strength with pragmatic number-based project and investment management, including responsibility for budget and procurement processes. You think in a solution-oriented manner, bring topics actively in motion and are delighted to implement innovations in the regulated municipal environment with ophthalmic, courage and liability. Binding, comprehensible, reliable – as a guide person, you create trust, give orientation and clarity, promote common development and create a culture in which motivation arises through sensuality. You convince people with your hands-on approach – in operational operation, bodies, authorities and administrative leadership.

You take on a key role in municipal services – with direct connection to the management, high visibility and noticeable contribution to environmental, climate and resource protection in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
