The Städtische Klinikum Karlsruhe is the largest hospital in the Middle Rhine region. It is shown in the hospital plan of the state of Baden-Württemberg as a house of maximum care for the region and the teaching hospital of the University of Freiburg. Day by day and around the clock, more than 4,900 qualified employees ensure the care of patients.

Around 1,800 operations are carried out annually in the neurosurgical clinic. The clinic has 39 beds at the normal stations M4C and M4D as well as, as required, appropriate monitoring beds at the Intermediate Care Station (IMC) M0B and the intensive care station of the Karlsruhe Neurozentrum (KaNeZ), which is operated in the area of the station M0C together with the clinic for anesthesia and in the area of the station M0D with the neurological clinic.
