The Lighthouse Visitor Center of the European XFEL informs visitors about the facility and its research. Within the Lighthouse, the Xcool Lab is a place for extracurricular education and consists of two student laboratories, one for physics and one for molecular biology and chemistry. School classes can take part in one of our courses for one day. You conduct various experiments, present their results and discuss the science behind them. As a working student, you will work on average a full day per week. The successful candidate will: As a tutor at the Xcool Lab in close cooperation with employees: Preparing experiments before starting a Xcool Lab day Students: supervise and support the implementation of experiments in physics Help to summarize and discuss experimental results A safe working environment for pupils: to ensure that Xcool Lab staff is supervised give guided tours through our exhibition and experimentation hall, providing information and answering questions Possible participation in the new and further development of materials and experiments Possible participation in outreach programs and events as well as assistance with the information desk at the Lighthouse
Current bachelor's or master's degree in the fields of biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry or a related subject with a duration of at least one further year (please specify the expected completion date of your studies in your application). An apprenticeship course is advantageous, but not necessarily necessary.
