The clinic for general, visual and vascular surgery with the associated shunt center is the supra-regional point of contact, especially for patients in the field of shunt surgery (shunt center), aortic surgery (open and endovascular), carotid surgery, endovascular and open therapy of the pAVK of the pelvic and legs, peripheral bypass surgery and varitation surgery. The entire spectrum of shunt surgery (endovascular and open) takes place in the only shunt center of Thuringia. Therefore, there is the possibility of expanding its capabilities. Our department is integrated into an operating tract with 7 rooms and offers vascular support in complex and large interventions of other disciplines. In addition, there is interventional radiology and neurology with “stroke unit”. In the co-operating MVZ Weimar is our vascular surgery.

We are recognized by the Landesärztekammer Thüringen for the training of specialist physicians for the areas of general surgery, visceral surgery, vascular surgery and proctology.
