As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you play a central role in ensuring the reliability, performance and operational excellence of our Retail of the Future IT landscape. You will monitor industry-standard SRE practices across multiple application products and product families and close the gap between development and operations. This role combines technical consulting and practical implementation – you will launch distributed product teams and simultaneously apply SRE best practices at different levels. This includes, for example, the provision of state-of-the-art and customized monitoring solutions that help to monitor the operation. In addition, by developing and performing scalable load and performance tests as well as recovery tests, you are actively contributing to ensuring the scalability and resilience of our landscape. Knowledge and incidents are valuable inputs for you to perform post-mortem analyses and identify possible improvements. These exciting tasks and responsibilities await you with us: Drive Reliability Engineering by implementing Monitoring, Incident Response and Automation to ensure system availability, performance and resilience Scale and develop systems sustainably by entering for automation and continuous improvements in reliability and performance Standardize SRE and Ops practices at program level to ensure a consistent approach across teams Improve Observability by implementing Monitoring, Alerting and Logging standards to improve system performance and resilience Automate system operations by Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to minimize manual errors and increase efficiency. Coordinate stakeholders (e.g. product teams, architecture practice, test teams) to ensure smooth operations and coordination with SRE initiatives Support product teams to introduce SRE principles throughout the service life cycle – from design and deployment to operation and shutdown Identify vulnerabilities and potential for improvement based on different data sources (e.g. defect management, deployment requests) Support the implementation of release and environment management strategies to ensure reliable (pre-)PROD environments that enable successful deployments and multi-stage testing Manage and follow SLOs (Service Level Objectives) at program level to ensure compliance with product-level reliability targets Support the optimization of software architecture in terms of performance and reliability through cooperation with architecture and development teams Explore and apply industry best practices and introduce them to the organization to keep our IT activities and SRE methods at the top of innovation

Ideally you qualify for this job: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related STEM subject Multiannual experience in Site Reliability Engineering, IT operations or software development

Strong cloud and DevOps mentality and expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or Google Cloud) Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker and Container Design Experience with observability tools (e.g. Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus) Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (eg Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) Strong programming, scripting and automation capabilities (Python, Bash or Go) Knowledge of Performance Test Tools (Gatling, JMeter, k6) and Disaster Recovery/Chaos Engineering Practices Experience with Git for version control and knowledge of modern Branching strategies Solid experience in dealing with Jira and Confluence Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in a complex, multi-layered environment Ability to take over the technical leadership of colleagues Passion for continuous improvement, innovation and driving industry trends Agile and practical thinking in English (written and oral); English is a plus Nice to have: Knowledge of the Mercedes-Benz Sales IT setup and its architecture Understanding FinOps and Experience with Cloud Cost Optimization Experience with Data Analysis/Data Science/Machine Learning Expertise in predictive analysis and pattern recognition for the anticipation of problems and optimization in monitoring Experience with the use and application of GenAI solutions Confidence with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) and/or other agile methods Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes (CKA/CKS) or SRE-related areas What you can look forward to: Flexible working time models including the possibility for mobile work
