  • Deutsches Zentrum für Psychische Gesundheit The German Center for Mental Health (DZPG, dzpg.org) is a network of universities, university clinics and non-university research institutions at six locations in Germany and part of the Federal Government's Health Research Programme. The DZPG pursues a consistent participative research approach as well as a lived open science policy. The common goal is to better understand mental illnesses, to recognize early, to treat effectively and to prevent their emergence. The Research and Treatment Centre for Mental Health (FBZ, fbz-bochum.de) of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum is a partner of the DZPG and combines research, teaching and treatment of mental health across the entire life span – from early childhood to high age. Since its founding in 2012, the FBZ has a comprehensive clinical, experimental and psychometric infrastructure that is continuously expanded through numerous third-party funding projects and renowned funding programmes. Depression is one of the most common causes of functional limitations worldwide. Despite evidence-based treatments, a significant proportion of the patients does not achieve remission. The personalized modular psychotherapy is considered to be a promising approach to the treatment of therapy-resistant depression (TRD).The aim of the POSIDONIA trial is to examine the superiority of a personalized modular psychotherapy to behavior activation (Behavioural Activation, BA) in a multicentric randomized-controlled study. Another central objective is the establishment and implementation of an adaptive, cross-site study infrastructure within the DZPG, which is to be used in a perspective for the iterative optimization of psychotherapeutic interventions. .
