In the field of automation, we offer dedicated students an interesting task at our location in Aichtal on the subject of machine localization. The processing of image data plays a central role in future automation solutions at the construction site. In order to meet the requirements of data protection, people in images should be automatically recognized and anonymized.

The aim of the work is to develop and evaluate an AI-based anonymization solution that reliably detects and makes people unmistakable in images. The task is to make it possible to use modern methods of deep learning and computer vision in practice and to apply them to real applications of construction site automation. Key topics Analysis and research of methods for personal and object recognition in the field of computer vision research and derivation of requirements for automated image ananymization taking into account the GDPR Construction of a computer vision pipeline for the automatic detection and anonymization of persons in image data Selection, preparation and use of suitable training data sets for training AI models Expansion and optimization of training data to improve robustness and generalisation Training, validation and evaluation of different models with regard to detection accuracy, robustness and runtime Comparison of different anonymization methods (e.g. pixelation, soft drawing or generative approaches) Evaluation of the developed solution using realistic image data from the construction site environment

Great interest in new technologies and innovative solutions Studies in computer science, software engineering or engineering, such as mechatronics, technical cybernetics, electrical engineering, technical computer science or a comparable discipline Basic knowledge in the field of computer vision or deep learning, ideally with practical experience Interest in self-recovery, at best the first experience with image processing and the training of Computer Vision models Joy of independent design, targeted approach and engagement in in interdisciplinary teams
