Number: MER0003YNR Group research and development is the driving force behind the technological future of Mercedes-Benz AG and Garant for first-class Mercedes-Benz Cars products. Our work aims at innovative, forward-looking products and highly efficient development processes. In close partnership with all business areas, our employees are committed to implementing visions from research and development in our products. In the Future Electric Drive (RD/XTE) department, we are responsible for the development of future electric drives. In the Team System Specification at the Sindelfingen and Untertürkheim site, we investigate promising technologies in the field of electrical machines and wireless energy transmission. The work student activity to be filled allows you to work in a future field and actively shape and advance it with your own innovative ideas. These challenges include: Dive into the mechanical design of systems for contactless energy transmission (WPT) and work on future constructions of rotating transformer components

Support in carrying out strength analyses of rotating components (e.g. by means of analytical methods, FEM simulations or experimental studies)

investigate and evaluate the dynamic mechanical behavior of the receiving unit, in particular vibrations, deformations and load limits during operation

Create models and simulations to predict critical operating conditions and derive constructive optimizations

In the validation of components, for example by evaluating measurement data, preparation of experimental setups or performing tests

Work closely with experts from design, simulation and experiment and bring their own ideas to improve system reliability

The activity can begin from March 2026.

Current studies in mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, physics or a comparable technical field

Basic knowledge of strength teaching, structural mechanics and/or vibration teaching

Secure handling of MS‐Office; first experiences with Matlab, Python or similar tools of advantage

Remarkable: first contact points with FEM software (e.g. Ansys, Abaqus, Ansys Maxwell, JMAG)

Analytical thinkability, interest in mechanical systems and structured work

Commitment, team skills and high motivation to work on new topics
