We about us:

The “Naturschutz” department takes over the tasks as a Lower Nature Conservation Authority. The range of tasks of the department ranges from covering protected areas, providing opinions on major projects in the energy transition and on building projects, biotope protection, the implementation of environmental compensation, and the approval of construction and interventions, to issues of protection of species. The Steinburg district is located in the natural area of Marsch and Geest and is characterized by the Elbe, the Nord-Ostsee Canal and the interference.

Your tasks:

· Constitution of (technical) opinions for:

o Plans and procedures in road construction, water-economic measures, planning methods, pre-requests and applications and approval procedures according to BlmSchG.

o Infringements against prohibitions of nature

o all operations subject to approval, such as pipeline construction, construction-approval-free construction projects in the field of outdoors

· technical processing (and monitoring):

o of excavation and distribution, e.g. for gravel mining projects

o for applications for the use of replacement allowances incl. control in implementation

o of applications for the establishment of eco accounts and consultation of applicants

· Control of compensation areas and monitoring of requirements related to interventions

Your profile:

A prerequisite for the job is

· ideally a successfully completed (specialized) university degree (Diplom/ Bachelor) in the field of conservation and landscape management or in the field of environmental sciences or landscape ecology

Also considered

· a successfully completed (specialized) university degree (Diplom/ Bachelor) in the field of natural or agricultural science or in the field of water management, in conjunction with several years of professional experience in nature conservation

· a valid driving permit of class B

· Get ready for Desksharing

· expert and reliable knowledge of German in word and writing

Advantages for the application

· Management experience or experience in a planning office focusing on environmental planning

· Project experience in the implementation of measures for the development of nature conservation in Northern Germany

· Knowledge of administrative and nature protection law as well as the right to intervene and compensation

· Knowledge of the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
