You will work in our research organization in the communication group. The Lighthouse Visitor Centre at the European XFEL informs visitors about the establishment and research. Guided tours are offered for school classes, students and scientists:inside and interested non-scientists:inside. The tours are conducted in English and German. The successful candidate will: After training by employees:in the communication and outreachstaff you will work as a tour guide in the Lighthouse. You will introduce visitors to the European XFEL facility, explain how You work and what research is done here, either as part of a highlight tour through the exhibition or as a presentation You will guide tours through our experimental hall by providing information and answering questions. You ensure that guests comply with the security and access rules. You encourage participants:in the tour, to fill out the evaluation surveys. You will work at the Lighthouse Information Centre after being incorporated. You will be first contact:in order for visitors to the Lighthouse, give information and answer questions. You will receive telephone and written requests by e-mail. You will inform guests about further events and materials from the Outreach. You will support the Lighthouse team in managing bookings, tours and visits at the Xcool Lab. You will help with maintenance of tour equipment and marketing materials. You may also contribute to other outreach programs and events both on and outside the campus.
Either currently enrolled:r Students:r or graduate:in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a subject related to European XFEL, including physics, chemistry, structural biology, material science or science teaching. Interested in leading students, students and other guests to the European XFEL. Ability to communicate science behind the institution in a comprehensible way and to speak to larger groups. Organizational, communicative and problem-solving skills.
