In Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development (RD), we design the automotive generations of the future. We mean innovative products with the highest quality and efficient development processes. Our team develops and processes the topic of on-board diagnostics (OBD) for Mercedes – engines to plug-in hybrids across the project. We are responsible for the functions of the OBD error memory and the Generic Scan tool communication. In addition, we coordinate the development of OBD with all the departments involved and ensure the highest possible quality of diagnostic functions in future products. In future, we also support the protection and validation of the OBD of battery-electric Mercedes-Benz vehicles. We offer you the opportunity to work in the field of on-board diagnostics and get an extensive insight into the development of complex and exciting products, the process chain, the way of working and organization in an international automotive group. These challenges include: Development of internal tools for measurement data evaluation (bug fixation, feature enhancements) and introduction of ideas to improve functionality
Supporting the tool request tracking system and quality assurance of tool requirements
Comparing the tool mode with vehicle data and performing measurements on the development vehicle and support in hardware/software updates
Support for OBD protection tests (PrePVE – Production Vehicle Evaluation) and participation in coordination rounds with development partners
Support in the coordination of test vehicles and fault components for the OBD safety tests, cooperation with specialist departments and responsibility for vehicle handling and fleet management
The activity can start full-time from April 2026.
