(Senior) DevOps / Platform Engineer (m/f/d)

The role is consciously wide – you work over the entire stack and have real design playroom: You continue to operate and develop our multi-cloud platform – Azure AKS and Hetzner Cloud (k3s) – and gradually consolidate our existing on-prem environment. You develop our infrastructure as code base with OpenTofu and Terragrunt and automate our VM and On-Prem landscape with Ansible. You are responsible for our entire delivery chain – from the GitLab-CI pipelines, container builds and quality gates to the GitOps rollout (ArgoCD, Kustomize, Helmet) via dev, test, acceptance and production – including the tooling landscape behind it (GitLab, Registry, Runner). You continue to build our monitoring and observability (Grafana, Prometheus/Thanos, Loki, Tempo). You are responsible for Secret, Certificate and Backup Management (External Secrets Operator with Azure KeyVault, cert-manager, Velero) as well as our security tools (Trivy, Falco, OAuth2 Proxy) and the identity connection via Entra ID. You enter our network across both clouds – firewalls (Azure, OPNsense), the site-to-site VPN between Azure and Hetzner as well as the ingress layer based on the Gateway API (Envoy Gateway). You drive automation and standardization ahead – so that recurring operating costs disappear instead of accumulating – and gradually bring our previously unmanaged legacy infrastructure to the same standards and to our IaC. AI is already part of our everyday life: changes run through automated AI-based reviews locally before reaching the remote. You continue to build such workflows and consciously shape our infrastructure AI-enhancing – to interfaces that agentic AI can safely work with our systems. You bring your experience into the strategic development of the platform – for example to the meaningful distribution of workloads between Azure, Hetzner and on-prem.

Technically: Multiannual experience with Kubernetes in productive operation, ideally across several clusters Found experience with Infrastructure as Code (OpenTofu/Terraform, Terragrunt) and configuration management with Ansible Practice with GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux, Kustomize/Helm) and CI/CD including container builds, ideally with GitLab CI Secure handling of at least one public cloud, interest in multi-cloud setups Solid Network and Security Basic Understanding – Firewalls, VPN/IPsec, DNS and Ingress as well as Secret Management and Identity/SSO Experience with an observability stack around Prometheus and Grafana Secure automation with Python (Bash of course, Go of advantage) Experience in consolidating grown environments and bringing them into a manageable, automated state Safe handling of agentic AI in everyday work and interest in making infrastructure conscious AI expandable Certifications such as CKA or Azure are a plus, but no need – we are more important practical experience No one brings all this – more important than every single point is depth in the core areas (Kubernetes, IaC, a public cloud) and the curiosity to unlock the rest.
