Senior Network Specialist – Focus on Linux (m/f/d)

WHAT DO NOT IN THE FUTURE – AND IN OUR KARRIERE. COMPONENTS WITH UNS. The Fraunhofer Society is one of the world's leading organisations for application-oriented research. 74 institutes develop groundbreaking technologies for our economy and society – more precisely: 30 000 people from technology, science, administration and IT. You know, who comes to Fraunhofer wants and can change something – for themselves, for us and the markets of today and tomorrow. Passion for solutions with light – this is the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Fine Engineering IOF! We conduct application-oriented research in the field of photonics at the traditional optical site Jena. We develop innovative light-based technologies and implement state-of-the-art optical components and systems along the entire process chain – from design and simulation to manufacturing to the integration and application of customer-specific solutions and prototypes. When do you shape the future together with us?

In the European collaborative project QUANT-GPlCz, we translate quantum-secured communication from research into practice: we implement the quantum key exchange (QKD) in real glass fiber networks and develop the necessary network level. Research and network architecture are directly interlocking – this makes the work varied and exciting. As part of this project, you work at our site at the Fraunhofer-Zentrum in Erfurt together with our international team of the Department of Photonic Quantum Systems. These are your tasks in detail: Planning, operation, further development and documentation of our LAN, WAN and firewall infrastructures for IT and quantum fiber testbeds Administration of existing Linux network systems and participation in security concepts Further development of glass fiber infrastructures and testbeds for national and international quantum research projects Analysis and troubleshooting of complex second and third level support Designing architecture decisions, technical standards and measures under the IT strategy 2030 Control of external service providers and manufacturers and active design of supplier management
